Quran player: Continue reading resumed without the saved reciter, and a playback control issue

Some signed-in listeners found that when they used Continue reading to pick up where they left off, the player did not remember the reciter they had been listening to, and playback could start again from the beginning of the surah instead of the saved verse. A separate report described the two-finger control for pausing playback not behaving as expected on some devices. Most listening worked normally and no account data was affected. Both behaviors have been corrected and confirmed: Continue reading now restores the saved reciter and resumes at the saved verse, and the two-finger pause control holds as expected. A Clear option was also added so listeners can empty their Continue reading list at any time.

    This incident has been resolved. Continue reading restores the reciter and resumes at the saved verse, and the two-finger pause now holds correctly after resuming. No account data was affected at any point.

    A fix has been deployed and we are monitoring the results. The two-finger pause gesture is now treated as a single action, so pausing after resuming from a saved position holds as expected. If you have the player open, please refresh to pick up the update.

    The two-finger pause issue has been identified. Device diagnostics showed that a single pause gesture was being registered as two opposing commands at nearly the same instant, which combined to resume playback instead of pausing it. A fix is being implemented.

    An initial fix has been deployed for the reciter and resume position. Continue reading now restores the reciter that was in use and resumes at the saved verse instead of the beginning of the surah. We are continuing to investigate the two-finger pause behavior.

    We are currently investigating reports that the Quran player did not restore the saved reciter when resuming from the Continue reading list, and that the two-finger pause gesture did not behave as expected on some devices. Recitation itself is playing normally.
