Quran player: delayed and unreliable playback-speed control

For a period, the Quran player's playback-speed control did not respond when it was changed while audio was playing, on all devices; the chosen speed only took effect after pausing and resuming or moving to the next chapter. Setting the speed before starting playback worked normally, and no data was affected. A listener reported it. Initial improvements to speed handling did not resolve it, and a deeper investigation found the underlying cause: the speed control was not being connected to the player when the page loaded, so changing it had no effect. That has been corrected and confirmed working.

    This incident has been resolved and the fix confirmed working. The playback-speed control now responds immediately whenever it is changed, during playback and across devices, and keeps your chosen speed from one chapter to the next. Impact was limited to the speed control; the player was otherwise working throughout and no data was affected. If you still notice the older behavior, reload the page once to clear your cache.

    The issue has been identified. The cause was in the page itself: the speed control was not being connected to the player when the page loaded, so changing it had no effect until an unrelated action re-read the value. This affected the control on all devices. The recitation audio was unaffected. A corrected fix is being implemented.
